INTRODUCTION
The Print Media Club is a domain-specific club functioning under the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, established to provide students with experiential learning and practical exposure to the field of print journalism. The club serves as a platform where students can transform classroom learning into professional journalistic practices through reporting, writing, editing, newspaper production, design, photography, and media management.
The club operates in close association with ‘Youngster’, the flagship bilingual newspaper of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Tecnia Institute of Advanced Studies, registered with the Registrar of Newspapers for India (RNI No. DEL/BIL/2004/14598). ‘Youngster’ functions as a student-driven newsroom that provides hands-on exposure to the complete newspaper production cycle—from news gathering and research to writing, editing, page design, production, and publication.
‘Youngster’ functions as a student-driven newsroom under the guidance of faculty members and industry experts. Through the newspaper, students experience the complete editorial and production workflow, including:
Research → News Gathering → Reporting → Writing → Editing → Fact-Checking → Page Design → Proofreading → Production → Publication
Aligned with the Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication (BAJMC) and Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication (MA(MC)) programme frameworks, the Print Media Club integrates areas such as reporting, editing, investigative journalism, feature writing, editorial writing, photojournalism, data journalism, media laws and ethics, newspaper design, research, and contemporary newsroom practices.
The club promotes Outcome-Based Education (OBE), experiential learning, critical thinking, ethical journalism, creativity, teamwork, and industry readiness, while encouraging students to engage with contemporary social, political, economic, environmental, cultural, and developmental issues.
