Language Lab

INTRODUCTION

The Language Lab at Tecnia Institute of Advanced Studies is a dedicated facility designed to enhancestudent’s language skills, focusing on both verbal and written communication. With a variety ofresources and technologies, the lab provides a dynamic environment for students to develop theirproficiency in multiple languages, improve their soft skills, and prepare for effective communication in aglobalized world.

Key Features of the Language Lab:

  1. State-of-the-Art Language Learning Software: The lab is equipped with advanced languagelearning software that offers interactive lessons, speech recognition, and real-time feedback,allowing students to practice pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary at their own pace.
  2. Multimedia Resources: Students have access to a wide range of multimedia resources, includingaudio-visual materials, interactive videos, and language-specific content, which enhancelistening and comprehension skills.
  3. Language-Specific Audio Stations: The lab includes individual audio stations equipped withheadphones and microphones, enabling students to practice their speaking and listening skills ina focused environment.
  4. Interactive Learning Tools: The Language Lab integrates interactive tools such as quizzes,games, and simulations that make learning fun and engaging while improving student’scommand over various languages.
  5. Group Learning and Collaboration: The lab is designed to support group learning andcollaborative activities. Students can engage in group discussions, role-playing, and languageexchange sessions, promoting teamwork and communication in real-life contexts.
  6. Accent and Pronunciation Training: The lab includes specialized software for accent reductionand pronunciation enhancement, helping students fine-tune their speaking skills to sound moreconfident and clear in their communication.
  7. Expert Guidance and Support: Trained language instructors and lab assistants are available toprovide support and guidance, helping students overcome language barriers and develop strongcommunication skills.
  8. Language Proficiency Testing: The lab offers resources for students to assess their languageproficiency and track their progress through standardized tests and self-assessment tools.

OBJECTIVES

  1. To develop professional skills of students for proper self-expression, socialcommunication, spoken English, correct pronunciation, voice modulationand business etiquettes and public speaking.
  2. To develop students use language appropriately for interviews, groupdiscussion and to enhance their self-confidence.
  3. To sensitize the students to the nuances of English speech sounds, wordaccent, intonation, rhythm, spoken English and neutralize mother tongueinfluence.
  4. To facilitate computer-aided multi-media instruction enabling individualizedand independent language learning.

  3. Pronunciation (Phonetics-Intonations): Pronunciation refers to the way in which individual sounds and words are produced. It involves the articulation of the different sounds in a language, including vowels, consonants, and Noun. Phonetics is the study of the sounds of human speech. It includes the description of how sounds are produced, transmitted, and perceived. Intonation refers to the variation in pitch of the voice when speaking. It is used to convey meaning, emotions, and attitudes
