INTRODUCTION
The Electronic Media Club is a domain-specific club functioning under the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, established to provide students with experiential learning and practical exposure to the field of broadcast journalism, radio, and television production. The club serves as a platform where students can transform classroom learning into professional broadcasting practices through reporting, anchoring, scriptwriting, audio-video editing, camera operations, sound design, and studio management.
The club operates in close association with ‘Tecnia TV’ and ‘Tecnia Radio’, the flagship web broadcasting units of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Tecnia Institute of Advanced Studies. ‘Tecnia TV’ functions as a student-driven broadcast newsroom and production house that provides hands-on exposure to the complete electronic media production cycle—from program curation and research to scripting, filming, editing, production, and final transmission.
‘Tecnia TV’ and ‘Tecnia Radio’ function as student-driven production environments under the guidance of faculty members and industry experts. Through these platforms, students experience the complete production and broadcast workflow, including:
Research → Concept Development → Scriptwriting → Storyboarding → Pre-Production → Filming/Recording → Video-Audio Editing → Sound Design → Post-Production → Broadcasting/Streaming
Aligned with the Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication (BAJMC) and Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication (MA(MC)) programme frameworks, the Electronic Media Club integrates areas such as television news reporting, radio jockeying, documentary filmmaking, podcasting, multi-camera studio production, audio-visual editing, media laws and ethics, research, and contemporary newsroom practices.
The club promotes Outcome-Based Education (OBE), experiential learning, critical thinking, ethical broadcasting, creativity, teamwork, and industry readiness, while encouraging students to engage with contemporary social, political, economic, environmental, cultural, and developmental issues.
